About UnschoolingPR.com

Our Philosophy

We believe that one of the most important things we can teach our kids is that learning is a life-long endeavor, and that it doesn't come from an institution -- It comes from within. Learning is what happens when we satisfy the natural curiosity we're all born with.

It is our intention to encourage and cultivate the philosophy of life-long learning, curiosity, and personal growth for us and our children.

Inspiring life-long learning is what matters, the methods are less consequential.

Who we are

We are John and Lisa Barba, an entrepreneurial couple living year round in Palmas del Mar, Humacao.

Why We Started UnschoolingPR.com

As parents of two beautiful girls, we're unschoolers ourselves, and we wanted a solid resource we could rely on to provide us with the latest and greatest about what family friendly events are going on all over the island.

Puerto Rico has an amazing and vibrant homeschooling movement. But we are frustrated by the disconnection between social media platforms and groups. As staunch opponents of big-tech, we felt there needed to be an independent platform dedicated to the local community.

What we want this community to be for the enchanted island

We want UnschoolingPR.com to be a positive and thriving community of life-long learners in Puerto Rico getting together to help one another out. We're providing the platform, but it's up to all of us to help make the island's homeschooling and unschooling community better.

We want to provide a place for unschooling and homeschooling families to connect with one another. We want to provide a place for educational providers and activity groups to reach those who are interested so that they may provide their services to the community and we can all help each other thrive.
